How percentile works
Your child's percentile compares their measurement to the WHO's international growth standard. A 60th-percentile weight means 60% of babies of the same age and sex weigh less. Any value in the 3rd to 97th percentile range is considered healthy. What matters most is the trend over time, not a single number.
When to ask your pediatrician
A single measurement below the 3rd or above the 97th percentile isn't automatically a problem, but a sudden jump or drop across percentile bands is worth mentioning at your next visit.
